From Fire to Mission: A Generation Rises at IGNITE Paris 2026

IGNITE Paris 2026 called a new generation to turn spiritual fire into missionary action, mobilizing the diaspora in Europe and planting a church in Avignon.

Participants gathered on Sunday, August 9 for the closing service of IGNITE Paris 2026. After four days of prayer, worship, teaching, fellowship, and conversations about missions, they came together around the Communion table. For many, the gathering was not simply ending. It was becoming a starting point.

IGNITE Paris 2026 was built around Jeremiah 20:9 and the theme, “The Fire of Destiny.” The vision was simple: to see a generation encounter the fire God places in the hearts of his children, embrace their God-given calling, and turn that fire into action for the gospel.

For the Alliance World Fellowship (AWF), the gathering also reflected a growing vision for the diaspora in Europe. Rather than seeing diaspora communities only as people who need to be reached, IGNITE calls the diaspora to become a missionary bridge between regions, a mission field, and a sending platform to the nations.

When Fire Becomes a Calling

Around 50 church members from Gabon, Belgium, and France took part in the conference held in Paris from August 6-9, 2026. Participants ranged in age from 17 to over 50 and included pastors, church and ministry leaders, and young adults.

Throughout the four days, speakers addressed different dimensions of the conference vision: the Fire of Destiny, missionary fire in the diaspora, evangelism, cross-cultural missions, mentoring, the establishment of the Kingdom, and the work of the Holy Spirit in worship.

Rev. Ferdinand Sangoye, President of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Church of Gabon and AWF Africa Regional Coordinator, opened the conference with teaching on the Fire of Destiny and evangelism. Rev. Olivier LO, the President of AECM France, spoke about missionary fire in the diaspora, while Eoghan Cosgrave, Mission Mobilizer for the EMERALD Region, presented the diaspora as a missionary bridge between Europe and the Middle East.

Other sessions addressed cross-cultural missions, mentoring, the diaspora as a missionary catalyst, the establishment of the Kingdom, worship, and missionary action.

But the purpose was never simply to gather people in a room and teach them.

The closing message captured the heart of IGNITE: the fire received must become decisions, decisions must become actions, and actions must produce lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God.

A Generation Ready to Respond

For some young participants, IGNITE helped turn a sense of calling into a clearer direction.

One young participant said, “If this kind of conference had started earlier, I think we would already be the Lord’s workers here in France.”

That response reflects one of the needs identified by the organizers. Many young people and members of the diaspora already sensed a desire to serve Christ but did not know how to turn that desire into action.

IGNITE sought to provide those next steps through teaching, mentoring, missionary engagement, and the development of an IGNITE Ministry School. On Saturday, August 8, the conference focused on “A Generation of Fire Carriers,” calling a new generation to be trained, mobilized, and sent.

The vision reaches beyond France. The goal is to see people from the diaspora participate in God’s mission across Europe, Africa, and the nations.

From Paris to Avignon

Perhaps the clearest sign that the conference was moving beyond words came through a commitment made during the gathering: a new church will be planted in Avignon.

Sister Rose Djabas, leader of the new cell group being established in Avignon, will guide its development toward becoming a local church. It represents a first concrete step toward multiplying communities engaged in mission in Europe.

For IGNITE, this is more than a new ministry initiative. It is an example of what can happen when spiritual transformation becomes missionary action.

The conference also pointed toward the development of a sustainable IGNITE platform within the AWF, with mentoring, training, and stronger connections between churches in Africa and the diaspora. A platform will allow participants to remain connected, follow the progress of IGNITE activities, share the vision, and encourage others to participate.

A Fire That Must Keep Burning

IGNITE Paris 2026 was born from a conviction: the fire God places in the hearts of his children is meant to move them toward action.

The conference brought together people from different countries, generations, and backgrounds, but the message was shared: the diaspora has a role to play in God’s mission.

The work ahead will require mobilization. Diaspora communities are spread across Europe, and building a shared vision takes time. The organizers recognize that more believers and churches need to hear the vision and embrace their role in it.

For now, there is no date for another IGNITE gathering. The focus is on building the platform, strengthening relationships, developing the Ministry School, mentoring emerging leaders, and supporting the church planting work in Avignon.

The closing service in Paris may have marked the end of four days together, but it also pointed toward what comes next.

The fire is meant to move.

From hearts to decisions.

From decisions to action.

From action to lasting fruit.

As the organizers expressed it: “The fire of destiny must become a missionary fire. May this fire continue to burn in hearts, ignite churches, and propel a new generation to go to the nations.”
