The 2022 AWF EMERALD (Europe and Middle East) Regional Conference was the first regional gathering since the 2019 conference in Germany. Burkina Faso and Mali are western African nations that have faced famine for decades. In recent years, jihadist terrorist attacks have resulted in the displacement of many. Nationals, mostly women and children, are being relocated west to the Sahara Desert. Surviving primarily through agriculture, these people fall victim to the droughts and floods that are common to the Sahara, further jeopardizing their lives.

Terrorism has plagued Mali for years, causing political and socio-economic upheaval for the people. The Alliance church reached out to the most vulnerable pastors and families, providing much-needed assistance. While travel is still dangerous and the general situation is insecure, the local team has touched the people with hope and support.

This workshop gave birth to new ideas, suggestions and possibilities for the future of the AWF’s Relief and Development ministry.

The Alliance of Burkina Faso has successfully implanted projects to protect, train and empower the people living in the vulnerable communities it serves. Under God’s guidance, they have assisted 122 households and 1,104 people. Let us pray that our Lord continues to use the lives of our Alliance family in Burkina Faso to bless their fellow countrymen.

The Mongolian herdsmen families of the Gobi Desert faced many challenges in the last two years. They experienced a drought, a harsh winter, the pandemic and natural disasters. But God guided the Mongolian Alliance through all this. They were able to help 51 families with wheat bran and fodder for their livestock. May God continue to use them to touch the lives of their people.
