The Youth Union of the Christian Alliance of Africa (UJAC) held its 16th Regional Congress in Libreville, Gabon under the theme “African Youth: Awaken to Your Revival” (Matthew 4:12-17).
Hundreds of young believers from across the continent gathered August 11-17, 2025, for a time of prayer, worship, teaching, cultural celebration, and mission in the streets of Gabon’s capital.
Each morning began with dawn prayers and worship led by national delegations—including a memorable day when the Ivorian youth guided participants in songs of praise that filled the auditorium with contagious joy. The program blended biblical teaching with practical workshops addressing real-life challenges such as relationships, entrepreneurship, job seeking, and ministry training.
Key speakers delivered messages that inspired youth to rise as leaders of transformation:
- Serge Armand Yao (Cote d’Ivoire) urged participants to move “from intentions to action” with his theme, “Standing Up to Build Faith, Identity, and Responsibility.” He reminded them, “If your target is only to work, eat, and sleep, you will bring nothing to Africa.”
- Benjamin Tamini (Burkina Faso) challenged the youth in his message, “Young Christian, You Are Endowed to Change Your World”, declaring, “Now it is time to progress. The invitation is made for youth to act. Let us think and act beyond our small lives.”
- Joël Kuvuna (DRC) delivered a powerful call in his teaching, “The Awakening that Distinguishes,” affirming, “We are endowed to change the world… Even if obstacles surround me, I know one thing: I function under God’s grace, so I walk with confidence.”
- Ferdinand Sangoye (Gabon) addressed the wider church with a prophetic reminder: “African Church, Awaken by Your Awakening.”
Throughout the week, participants shared moments that deeply marked them. In workshops, young single men reflected openly on the challenges of celibacy, exploring how to manage emotions and find purpose in this season of life. During the General Assembly of the UJAC movement, delegates took strategic decisions to strengthen the youth network as a credible influence across Africa.
Social media posts from attendees captured the heartbeat of the congress, highlighting declarations such as,
- “We are a powerful spiritual and moral force.”
- “Prayer is a formidable weapon in our hands.”
- “A visionary transforms obstacles into opportunities.”
- “Invest yourself for others—desire to see them advance and progress.”
These words, echoed in worship and testimonies, revealed a generation determined to embody faith, excellence, and impact.
The congress extended beyond the Léon Mba School Complex into the city itself. Evangelistic campaigns, door-to-door outreach, and the creation of ministry annexes carried the revival spirit into local neighborhoods. Libreville became both a host and a mission field, reflecting UJAC’s conviction that awakening must lead to action.
On Saturday evening, a socio-cultural celebration showcased the artistic and creative talents of African youth in music, dance, and drama. The closing worship on Sunday sealed the week with a call to the African Church to rise, awaken, and embody change for the continent’s future.
UJAC 2025 was not just a congress but a catalyst of spiritual and social transformation. Through prayer, teaching, and mission, African youth affirmed their identity as salt and light in their communities. As one participant reflected, “God has confirmed once again that our generation is called to impact the world through faith, commitment, and excellence.”
