Meet Ramiro Machicado, the New President of the Alliance of Bolivia

July 21, 2025

Ramiro Machicado T. has been elected President of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Church of Bolivia, continuing his long-standing leadership within the movement and reaffirming his commitment to strengthening and expanding the Alliance’s gospel presence across the nation.

Machicado, who officially began his new term in May 2025, will serve until May 2027, focusing on solidifying church structures, equipping new leaders, and preparing Bolivian believers for cross-cultural missionary work. “Our goal is to build dynamic, reproducing churches while training new leaders and missionaries who will carry the gospel to Bolivia and beyond,” he said.

His pastoral ministry has included leading the Alliance Church in Calacoto for five years and serving in various pastoral roles across Bolivia. From 2013 to 2022, Machicado previously served as president of the Bolivian Alliance, and in 2024, he was tasked with organizing and directing the new Alliance seminary in Bolivia.

Under his renewed leadership, Machicado plans to continue the church’s strategic developments while emphasizing dynamic church growth, leadership training, and a structured pathway for developing cross-cultural missionaries. Additionally, he aims to strengthen the unity within the Bolivian Alliance and finalize updates to the church’s statutes with the Bolivian government.

Born in La Paz, Bolivia, on January 3, 1961, Machicado grew up under the care of his parents, Evaristo and Blanca, alongside three siblings. After studying economics and completing a master’s degree in international trade, he encountered Christ on May 27, 1986, through a radio evangelistic message that led him to the Alliance church in Calacoto, La Paz. There, he grew in faith and served for 13 years before answering God’s call to pastoral ministry.

Despite the absence of an Alliance seminary in Bolivia at that time, Machicado pursued theological training through local institutions and extensive self-study, later earning a Master’s in Pastoral Theology from FATELA, the Latin American Theological Faculty in 2012. Most recently, he completed a Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus on leadership from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Missouri, in the USA, defending his dissertation on July 1, 2025.

Machicado and his wife, Carmen Rosa Otálora Urquizu, have been married since July 21, 1990, and have three adult children: Stefanie Adriana, Pablo Andrés, and Carla. They remain committed to serving the Lord together as they embrace this new season of leadership.

Machicado requests prayer for his health, for wisdom to serve with humility and faithfulness, and for a spiritual awakening in Bolivia that will empower the Alliance to fulfill the Great Commission locally and globally. “May God grant us the grace to serve him well, so that his name may be glorified in Bolivia and to the ends of the earth,” he said.
