Rev. Nipon Luang-ngern has been elected president of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Thailand, with a vision to plant 50 new churches and train leaders across Thailand.
Born in northern Thailand and shaped by decades of ministry in the country’s northeast, Rev. Nipon Luang-ngern has once again been called to lead the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) of Thailand into a new season of church planting and leadership development.
The C&MA of Thailand recently elected Rev. Nipon to serve as president for the 2026–2029 term. He previously served in the same role from 2011-2018 and has spent more than 36 years ministering in Khon Kaen Province.
Thailand, a Southeast Asian nation of about 66 million people, is known for its strong Buddhist heritage and rich cultural traditions. Christians make up a small percentage of the population, making gospel ministry both challenging and significant across the country.
Rev. Nipon was born on September 25, 1967, in Chiang Mai Province into a Christian family. He grew up with five older brothers and one younger sister and has served God since the age of 22. Over the years, he has served as a pastor, Bible teacher, and national church leader. He also earned a master’s degree in Thai Bible Studies.
Together with his wife, Saiphin, he has built a life of ministry and family over the past 30 years. They have two daughters, ages 25 and 29.
Reflecting on the work ahead, Rev. Nipon said the national church hopes to establish 50 new churches during the next four years. The C&MA of Thailand currently has about 180 churches throughout the country.
“We need to train enough church leaders to meet this demand,” he said.
Much of Thailand’s population lives in areas where there is little Christian witness, especially in rural communities. Church planting and leadership training remain central priorities for the national church as believers seek to share the gospel in places where many people have never heard it clearly before.
Rev. Nipon asks Alliance family members around the world to pray for the people of Thailand and for unity among church leaders.
“Pray that the Thai people will open their hearts to the gospel,” he said. “And pray that our national committee will have love, faith, and hope in working together as a team.”
