Deeper Life and Missions at the Heart of the Ministry of the ICTE

The meeting of the International Commission on Theological Education (ICTE) echoed the theme of the next AWF Quadrennial Convocation: the intersection between Deeper Life and Missions. The draft of the Guayaquil Declaration was concluded and the two winners of the AWF Theology Award were selected.

The scheduled ICTE meeting in Amsterdam was unfortunately cancelled due to the worldwide corona crisis. We could convene online, however, via video conference and we had a beneficial time together.

We worked on the preparations for the AWF Quadrennial in Guayaquil, Ecuador, this coming October. Together we finalized the Guayaquil Declaration which accentuates Deeper Life and Missions.

In addition, we worked on the content of the Workshop of Theological Education which will be offered during the Quadrennial, and we picked the two winning essays for the AWF Theology Award. The authors will be rewarded with free admission to the Quadrennial.

At the Quadrennial, a new A.B. Simpson publication will be launched. The ICTE has compiled a number of Simpson’s important articles and put them together in a one volume book which will be available in English and Spanish.

Preliminary preparations were made for a new Young Scholars Program to be held during the summer of 2021.

We are very glad to hear lots of positive feedback about the various Alliance Seminars which were held in the different regions. The time will come when travelling will be possible again, so please do not hesitate to contact us about organizing an Alliance DNA Seminar in your region or country.

Let me close with a word of encouragement: Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” In these disturbing times let us focus on and surrender to our Lord: Christ our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and coming King.
