Are you a Relief and/or Development Practitioner? The AWF Relief and Development Team is looking for presenters for the upcoming AWF Quadrennial Symposium on Relief and Development. We will be holding two workshops focused on Relief and Development, respectively. If you have expertise in these areas, we would like to hear from you.
The workshop on Relief and Development is part of the AWF Quadrennial Convocation and aims at creating a network of Alliance R&D leaders and practitioners. The symposium has been planned to allow R&D practitioners who lead or serve in projects integrated with an Alliance church to present aspects of their ministry in a report to be read at a workshop on a panel of six presenters. The presentations will be followed by a time of questions and answers led by a moderator. Each paper will be limited to eight minutes when read aloud. The paper can be written in Spanish, French or English.
The following questions should be considered as you prepare the presentation:
Relief Symposium:
- Relief response is effective and timely. Discuss the coordination of a specific effort you led or participated in and the outcome. What were the key factors for the method of relief you chose to implement?
- As Relief practitioners we are continuously learning. Discuss an obstacle faced by your team and how you arrived at a solution and lessons learned.
- Relief efforts are coordinated and inclusive. How did you involve local people in responding to their needs?
Development Symposium:
- Do you have a philosophy or guiding set of principles you follow? If so, could you discuss and illustrate one of them?
- How do you learn from experience? Discuss how processes of communication, participation and feedback have grown your program.
- How has your development effort strengthened local capacities and avoided negative effects?
Those interested in making a presentation should submit the following to [email protected]:
- Symposium Panel Application.
- An abstract that reviews or outlines the major points of your paper.
The deadline is August 31, 2021. Responses to the applicants will be returned by September 15 with final papers due by September 30.
