A Tribute to Dr. Rodrigo Tano

September 8, 2021

Dr. Rodrigo Tano, former president of the Philippines Alliance (CAMACOP), was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 6, 2021, at the age of 89. Let us pray that the Lord comforts and brings peace and strength to Dr. Tano’s family.

In more than 60 years of ministry, Dr. Rodrigo Dolores Tano was a faithful and inspiring man of God. Rev. Eduardo Cajes, CAMACOP´s president, remembers Dr. Tano as a “committed leader, theologian, mentor, teacher, preacher, pastor, and writer.” He and his wife dedicated their lives to God’s kingdom.

Dr. Tano served as president of the CAMACOP from 1997-2001. He took care of God’s sheep through his work in many churches, blessing countless lives. Rev. Cajes recalls, “he could have wanted to do more had God not called him home to eternal rest.”

Dr. Tano graduated from the Ebenezer Bible Institute (now Ebenezer Bible College and Seminary) in 1955. He earned his doctorate in Philosophy (Theological Studies) from Baylor University, USA, in 1979. He also contributed to Evangelicals Today and wrote “Theology in the Philippine Setting: This Complicated and Risky Task” and a pamphlet, “Man, the Steward.” He was also actively involved in many theological and missionary institutions.

In Rev. Eduardo’s words, “we send him off with a heavy heart, but we take comfort from the assurance that he will forever enjoy the presence of our sovereign Lord, whom he had served and loved wholeheartedly.”

Let us pray that the Lord comforts and brings peace and strength to Dr. Tano’s family and the Alliance family of the Philippines. Let us also be thankful for his life and service to the kingdom.
