As more National Alliance Churches are sending missionaries cross-culturally, mission leaders meet to discern prayerfully the next steps to fulfill God’s mandate to proclaim Christ to all nations.
The AWF Global Network of Missions Leaders met in Limburg, Germany (April 27 and 28, 2019) to share how the national churches they represent have sensed God’s direction toward new missionary initiatives.
Sometimes, some National Alliance Churches are better positioned to reach some of the unreached people’s groups than others. Discerning together God’s direction for our missionary movement has been a wonderful collective experience for the 25 participants of the meeting. Special emphasis was given to the least reached among the unreached people groups, the Frontier People Groups, with less than 0.1% of Christians of any kind. Missionary initiatives involving Frontier People Groups in North and West Africa, Middle East and Southeast and Central Asia were discussed.
Offering contextualized missionary training programs in Latin America, Spain and Africa were identified as opportunities for partnership. A new model for Business as Mission was discussed and practical steps for implementation were laid out.
Other topics included compassion and mission, specifically focusing on community development in Africa and the refugee crisis of Venezuelans. All those topics are part of the agenda for further discussions and prayers as the Network’s participants continue to interact.
The next meeting of the AWF Global Network of Missions Leaders will take place in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on October 19, 2020, just before the AWF Quadrennial Convocation.
