Born to revive God’s call for the Alliance women in Latin America, AMADA took its first steps in 2009. The AMADA ministry connects Alliance women across Latin America. Pray that God continues to use this ministry for the growth of his kingdom.
AMADA in Spanish means “beloved” and it is meant to reaffirm God’s gift of value to women. In short, the message is that all women are “beloved” in God’s eyes. This ministry began in 2009, when the CLA board of directors felt that God was calling women to restore the dignity and biblical role that women play in church and society. They formed a group of women leaders who later took the name AMADA. In that same year, the first conference happened in Miraflores, Peru, with the theme “Retrieving the Dignity of Women to Build Healthy Nations.”
Since then, four other conferences have been held. AMADA 2, in Pueblo Libre, Peru, in 2013. It was centered on the theme “Women Peacemakers.” The third conference took place in Santiago, Chile, in 2016 with the slogan “Dealing with the Limelight.” AMADA 4, held in Milagro, Ecuador in 2019, talked about “Taking Care of a Woman’s Heart.” To read more about the AMADA 4 conference, click here.
The most recent conference, AMADA 5, took place on June 26, 2021. Argentina was the host country, but for the first time the event was entirely online due to the pandemic. The theme of this virtual conference was “Assured in Times of Crisis.”
The AMADA ministry tries to create a space for Alliance women in Latin American to share with one another, encourage each other, praise God, and support missions. The speakers at these events are women of God specialized in the themes they talk about. Alongside them, ministers teach God’s Word through workshops and services.
Sister Isabel Freire de Muthre, the leader of the organizing team behind the virtual event AMADA 5, said, “Beloved Alliance family, we are sure that God has been glorified in this beautiful time. He has spoken to our hearts. It is important to remember Débora’s words: ‘Times of crisis will bring out the best and the worst in us.’” The event had more than 3,500 attendees. Today, the ministry is proud to say that “borders have been torn down.” With members from 25 Latin American countries, the AMADA ministry continues to grow and to touch the lives of many women.
Let us pray that their future events are all equally successful and full of blessings. Pray that God continues to guide the Alliance women in Latin America to reach many more lives.
