Planting churches rooted in the Bible, expanding the missionary vision and training the pastors with a strong Alliance perspective are central topics of the ministry of the AWF EMERALD Region. Rev. Munther Shahatit and his team are leading the region in fulfilling these objectives.
The AWF EMERALD (Europe and the Middle East Region) RCC (Regional Coordinating Committee) met in Amman, Jordan on July 20 and 21, 2018, to seek God’s guidance and to work on various initiatives in the region. The meeting was very fruitful with significant progress in certain areas:
- Planning for the AWF EMERALD Regional Conference and the Symposium of Alliance Theology that will take place in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt, Germany, from May 1 to 4, 2019, and the mini-conferences that will take place beforehand (Chinese, Latino and Arab ministries);
- Developing a strategy to engage with the national Alliance churches in the region and to use AWF EMERALD as a platform for Alliance projects;
- Developing a communication strategy to engage with all the Alliance people in the region and share how God is working in the Alliance families in the region;
- Organization of training programs for pastors and church leaders in Iraq and Jordan;
- Approval of new inter-church and inter-region Alliance projects:
- Syrian missionary, trained in the Christian Alliance Institute of Theology (CAIT) in Beirut, Lebanon, who will join in church planting in a country that links the Middle East to Europe;
- The African Alliance Diaspora project in France to create a link between the Alliance families in Africa and in Europe.
