Syrian Pastor Bahij Khoury Returns to our Heavenly Father

August 5, 2020

Rev. Bahij Khoury was ushered into glory after a life full of rich eternal fruit. He served the Lord faithfully for over sixty years, and he was a special gift to the Alliance Church in Syria.

Rev. Khoury was a passionate student of the Word and an astounding teacher. He held faithfully to pure biblical truth. Compromise was not one of his strengths; he was a black and white man.

Fear had no place in his heart. He declared the truth sometimes in the face of threats and other times in the face of ridicule.

He belonged to a generation of heroes who were called and sent by God to carry the good news and establish churches. For years he gladly spent and was spent for the gospel. He spared no cost in serving the Lord, whom he loved.

Since 1953, he has been part of the first pioneers who started and expanded the Alliance Church in Syria. He served on the Executive Committee of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Syria and Lebanon for 27 years and as the pastor of the church in Tartous from 1982 until his retirement in 2016.

We say farewell to a giant in faith who went ahead of us to be with the Lord.

Our deepest condolences to his wife Kawther and his kids Samuel and Danny and their families.
