At the recent meeting of the International Commission of Theological Education (ICTE) the submissions for the AWF Theology Award were evaluated and two winners have been selected. Congratulations go to Rev. Chris Smith from Canada and Rev. Dr. Joël Kuvuna Mbongi from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The AWF Theology Award is given to an original research paper devoted to one of the following subjects:
- The history of the Christian and Missionary Alliance;
- The theology of the Christian and Missionary Alliance; and
- The missionary and ecclesial practices of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Rev. Smith wrote an article entitled The Christocentric Core of Simpson’s Pneumatology. Rev. Dr. Kuvuna Mbongi wrote an article entitled La Problématique de la Contextualisation et Compréhension de la Théologie de la CMA en Afrique, Cas De La RD Congo.
Both papers contribute to the history and thought of the C&MA and were deemed to be the best of the submissions received. The two gentlemen have been awarded with a trip to the AWF Quadrennial in October. These articles, along with a selection of ‘runner up’ articles will be made available on the AWF Repository in the coming months.
The ICTE would like to thank all those who submitted an article for consideration. The Commission was very impressed with the quality of the submissions and is thankful that there are those within our global Alliance family who are thinking and writing about the ethos of our movement.
Another AWF Theology Award is being considered for 2021.
