The husband and wife team of Edward Kwong and Rosa Chan are Canadian missionaries from Calgary Westside Chinese Alliance Church. They arrived in England 21 years ago
Rev. Edward Kwong and Rosa Chan are reaching out to the Chinese community around the Cambridge campus in Great Britain. Their work goes from teaching English, to classes about everyday matters, like marriage and parenting. Their ministry is blooming and far from over.
In Cambridge they started a Chinese scholars fellowship and established a Mandarin-speaking congregation (initially called ‘The Cambridge Chinese Scholars Christian Church’). The church joined the Christian & Missionary Alliance GB in 2010 and was renamed the Cambridge Alliance Church. They met initially in Edward and Rosa’s home but are now based in St. James Church of England.
CAC’s mission is “reaching out to the local Chinese community and students and teachers on campus.” On Sundays the church has a morning service followed by lunch. In the afternoon there is time for more teaching and a Sunday school. Rosa speaks and leads Alpha, Marriage and Parenting classes as they continue to reach out to the Chinese community in Cambridge.
Campus ministries include English classes followed by Bible study; a Saturday afternoon forum; and guided walks in London (e.g. Old Testament Bible Archaeology Walk in the British Museum, National Gallery looking at paintings of gospel scenes).
Please pray for:
- Wisdom for Edward and Rosa as they continue to lead the church;
- Resources to establish ministry for the second generation;
- New contacts to find Jesus as their Savior and be built up in their faith;
- The Lord to continue to touch the lives of students and professors alike in this University City.
