The Alliance in Latin America is building its missionary vision as it finds new ways to fulfill the Great Commission in urban areas and in cross-cultural projects. The emphasis of the Alliance Ministerial Update in Latin America in November 2020 will be missions.
The Christian mission continues until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. Until this happens, the church reflects and reacts to the changes in the so-called “new normal,” responding with new forms, resources and strategies to maintain its faithful service in Christ.
How to define and do missions in the coming years? In a series of webinars, several Latin American specialists will share their vision for the future. They will talk about what their ministries are already creating or doing in areas such as missionary training, transformation of traditional missions, business as mission, and relief and mercy actions.
In addition, Rev. Jura Yanagihara, president of AWF, and Rev. David Muthre, president of CLA, will make presentations that will help direct the missionary projects of the region for the coming years. We want to inspire the vocation of more men and women called to missionary service.
The topics of the four webinars are:
- Training of New Missionaries: November 16
- Missions in the so-called New Normal Call: November 19
- Relief and Mercy: November 23
- Business as Mission: November 26
In Latin America, creativity and collaboration between ministries and institutions is bearing fruit so that missions continue to advance. Along with this, we now have hundreds of professionals from areas other than theological or pastoral service. They bring their knowledge to different projects to which they voluntarily commit to be at the service of God’s work in the world.

Finally, the Alliance on the continent will have added four months of ministerial update, renewing vision and strengthening vocations, using technological resources to do so. At the end of this period, the webinars will have reached more than 57,000 views on the different channels. We pray that God’s purpose is fulfilled in the midst of our Alliance family.
The webinar recordings are available on the AWF YouTube channel.
