Meet Jong Sim, the New President of the Alliance of South Korea

July 18, 2022

The new president of the C&MA Korea, Rev. Jong Hun Sim, has plans to make the denomination known among Koreans, to reach out and serve foreign workers who currently work in Korea, and to mobilize more cooperative missionary efforts.

Born in April of 1957 in Gangneung-Si, South Korea, Rev. Jong Hun Sim is married to Mi Yu Sim. They have three children: John, 38; Joshua, 33, and Emily, 27.

Rev. Sim was raised in a Christian family and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in May 1976 at the age of 19, when he was a freshman in college. He graduated from the Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS) in New York, USA and immediately started a church in Nanuet, NY. He pastored this congregation until he was transferred to a church in California in 2011.

Rev. Sim served the past two years as vice president of the South Korean Alliance, then was elected in April 2022 to a two-year term as president. He is working on making the name of the national church known among the Korean people to whom it is relatively unfamiliar. He also is looking forward to recruiting and promoting more individuals, churches, and organizations to join the efforts of the C&MA Korea. In addition, Rev. Sim wants to develop a church education program that can be commonly used among the Korean people, and mobilize more cooperative missionary efforts among the churches in South Korea.

Rev. Sim asks us to pray that the church will be able to find effective ways to reach out to people and serve more foreigners who currently work in Korea. He also asks us to pray for the new church members, and for the peace of the Korean peninsula, so they will become a unified nation which can be used to evangelize the world.

Let us pray for Rev. Sim and his family, for the Alliance Church in South Korea, and for their plans to reach their people with the gospel.
