The Alliance of Burkina Faso has successfully implanted projects to protect, train and empower the people living in the vulnerable communities it serves. Under God’s guidance, they have assisted 122 households and 1,104 people. Let us pray that our Lord continues to use the lives of our Alliance family in Burkina Faso to bless their fellow countrymen.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Burkina Faso stepped forward to help the community. As part of the AWF Global Response to COVID-19 program, their Relief and Development (R&D) project continues to bless lives by providing training, materials and loans. They also have created COVID-19 awareness campaigns. So far, 122 families, a total of 1,104 people, have been assisted.
The R&D project raised awareness for the correct protective measures against COVID-19, educating 205 people on the procedures to stay safe. The Alliance of Burkina Faso also built 25 family outdoor bathrooms in three villages: Tiempagora, Kamandena and Kodougou. A church pastor from Tiempagora, Pierre Hema, thanked the Alliance saying, “You have saved us from shame and humiliation.” To celebrate, he and the believers there worshipped and prayed with the workers.
Local farmers received training, focusing on cultivation according to God’s principles. Additionally, the C&MA provided them with seeds and materials to properly take care of their lands. During this program, 60 men learned more about God and how to take care of his land.
More than 30 women received loans to help boost their small businesses and income-generating activities. One of them, Mrs. Djelia Sanou, said, “When our pastor gave us the information about this project, we were all pleasantly surprised because no one expected it. I had the grace to be retained as a beneficiary. With the sum of forty thousand francs that I received, I was able to restart my small business, which I had abandoned for a few months for lack of means.”
Mrs. Sanou also mentioned that “every morning before going out to sell, I first pray that my business will work. And I see that God is indeed answering my prayers.” She sells fish, sugar, cakes, soap and other items. Her dream is to be a great businessperson one day.
God has used the Alliance of Burkina Faso to touch many lives through this project. May our Lord continue to use them to reach more communities with his love and grace. Please pray that their project can progress and grow.
