Sudan’s House Church Movement Shines Amid Major Crisis Throughout the Country
In a country so ethnically diverse and with so many different beliefs, a second church is being built to continue to spread God’s word amongst the Beninese. God willing, the project will bless the lives of many and bring the people of Benin together to celebrate His name.
Benin is a country in the West African region. It used to be a French colony up until August 1st of 1960. It is extremely ethnically diverse, with Fon, Adja and Yoruba people making up most of the population. An estimated 27.7% of the population is Muslim, followed by 25.5% of Catholics and 13.5% of Protestants. The remaining percentage is divided into other Christian faiths and traditional local religions, including Vodoun.
In Bohicon, a conurbation of another city in Benin, the first week of February was full of progress concerning the construction plans of the church. The temple is the second one to be built by them. The electrification of the temple, as well as the interior plastering, were completed. The workers framed the ceiling and screed the floor. All that remains is laying the plywood plates, the painting of the temple and the placing of the tiles.
A dedication ceremony will take place to celebrate the completion of the temple! It will happen June 12-19, during which there will be an evangelization campaign, the consecration of a pastor, a baptism, and the blessing of a wedding! The delegation from Gabon will leave the capital, Libreville, towards Benin on the 12th. The day after they arrive in Benin’s capital, Porto-Novo, they leave for Bohicon.
Let us pray that their trip is safe and that they arrive well to celebrate with their brothers and sisters. Pray also for the construction of the church, so that it may bless countless lives.
