Following the recent Yamoussoukro Quadrennial, Alliance leaders from across the globe shared rich reflections on two key initiatives shaping the future of the Alliance World Fellowship (AWF): the Yamoussoukro Theological Declaration and the development of a unified Alliance Curriculum.
Led by the AWF’s International Commission on Theological Education (ICTE), the English, French, and Spanish discussion groups first expressed deep appreciation for the theological depth and missional vision of the Yamoussoukro Declaration. They affirmed its call to keep Jesus Christ central in all witness and mission, while encouraging greater creativity in engaging an ever-changing world. The reflections emphasized that the deeper spiritual life — a core Alliance conviction — is essential for sustaining mission vitality and inspiring new generations to respond to God’s call.
In the second discussion, the review of the Alliance Curriculum and the key topics of Divine Healing and Sanctification were discussed, and conversations underscored the importance of preserving the movement’s theological distinctives while equipping future generations for biblically grounded, Spirit-filled, and mission-focused ministry. We also were able to praise God for a healing in the workshop time during a practical demonstration of healing prayer!
A strong theme throughout the two workshop sessions was the unity of believers in Christ. Participants called for this unity to be expressed not only as doctrine but as a lived reality across the global Alliance family. The French-speaking group urged a clearer articulation of Alliance identity at every level of church life, from children’s ministries to leadership development, and proposed expanding partnerships between national churches, theological institutions, and other mission organizations.
All groups affirmed three defining marks of Alliance formation:
- The Deeper Life – life in the fullness of the Spirit of Christ.
- The Fourfold Gospel – Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
- Incarnational Mission – living and serving in a way that demonstrates Christ’s love in every context.
In addition, participants stressed the foundational role of Scripture, describing biblical study as “part of our DNA.” They called for a strong engagement with the Word amid a global yet context-sensitive curriculum, that is unified in core theology but flexible in delivery. They highlighted the need to teach Alliance history comprehensively, including its global development and continuing mission.
Together, these reflections and practices affirm that the Alliance remains committed to forming Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and mission-driven leaders. The ICTE expresses its thanks to all those who participated in the workshops.
