Yesterday at least five people were killed and more than 70 wounded in Beirut. This suicide attack came a week after the assassination last week of prominent politician Mohammad Shatah. “The situation in the country is very dangerous and the whole area could go to a terrible war time”, says Alliance leader Sami Dagher. „We see the hand of the devil destroying and killing, but our God is a God of love and we hope that righteousness will prevail and we can live a normal life.” The increase of violence is illustrated by Milad Dagher: “Several of our church members work within a two block radius and passed by the explosion’s sight a few minutes before it took place. We praise God that he has protected all of them. However, our hearts always ache as we see people suffer needlessly as the evil wreaks havoc in our country and the region.” The Lebanese Alliance pastors see it as “a great opportunity for the love of Christ to be proclaimed and for the gospel to be presented.” Their request for prayer is: “Please pray that the Lord will pour out his Holy Spirit upon all believers in the region to proclaim Christ more boldly.” Pastor Charbel Malak summarizes it all matter-of-factly: “The situation is bad, but we are fine”.
