“Heroes? No, that’s not what we are.” Syrian Alliance leader Edward Awabdeh and his wife Ranaa made a short visit to the Netherlands. “Last week the shelling came so close to our area that we had to leave our apartment. Half of the church members left Damascus and sometimes we wonder why we stay. But then, we know the answer: in these dark times, God wants us to share Hiis light. He uses churches to hand out food and give hope. We see people come to Christ and wanting to be baptized, recently even 29 persons.”
Edward and Ranaa share about their struggles, hopes, fears and faith. Vulnerable, but strong in Christ. “In the past I often reflected on the sovereignty of God. Now we have to live it, knowing that He is in control, whatever the circumstances may be”. Then they asked for prayer. “We need it, because the real battle is spiritual”. The picture shows Dutch Alliance people ready to pray for them. Let’s join the prayer, wherever we are, because the battle is spiritual indeed.
