The Alliance started in Barcelona in 1978 with Fred Kowalchuk. A dozen diligent missionaries followed, but the first few years were hard and in 1992 the five congregations ended in three. There was a relay team in 1993-94 and a focus change to Madrid. With the great migration to Spain from 1996-2006 from Latin America, the three churches grew and multiplied.
In 2007, the structure of the national church was reactivated in the form of a federation with each congregation obtaining its own legal entity before the government.
