The first record of a missionary of the Alliance in Argentina, dates from 1897, named Olsen. But it is not until the beginning of the 20th century with the arrival of the missionaries Samuel and Vera Barnes that the Alliance began to take shape in the country.
The strategy of the Alliance was to preach in the villages where there was no evangelical presence, so the first churches were established on the railroad tracks.
Towards the 30s, the Mission of the USA and Canada, due to the economic crisis, decided to withdraw the missionaries from the field and many of the works opened by the missionaries went to other organizations.
Nonetheless, the Barnes missionaries decided to continue with the work in Argentina, even if they did not have the support of the Mission.
Since the 50s, several churches were established in the province of Buenos Aires and two in the city of Buenos Aires.
In 1922, the Biblical Institute was established in the city of Azul. In the years of crisis, it was closed, but in the 60s, the Barnes missionaries moved to the city of Buenos Aires, and reopened the doors, under the name of Buenos Aires Bible Institute, as it is called to this day.
Since the opening of the Bible Institute many workers were trained, and many missionaries came to Argentina, for the training of workers and the opening of new works.
The work of the Alliance has grown since then. In 2011, the last missionaries left the country.
