The AWF Latin American Region is holding webinars to update its presidents, missionaries, pastors and executive leaders from the continent on the AWF’s Global Response to COVID-19. The webinars are the result of meetings held with national presidents during the first half of 2020.
These virtual seminars are to encourage and mobilize national presidents and pastors to coordinate efforts in their countries, share ministry ideas, and learn from the experiences of the Christian and Missionary Alliance family in the face of the changes in this COVID-19 world.
More than 45 speakers, including denominational presidents, directors of strong ministries, church pastors, scholars and missionaries, all of them specialists in different areas of church work, will address pastoral, church and missions issues.
Sixteen sessions are being held between August and November with the following main topics:
- The Ministry of the Church in Virtual Times
- Emerging Pastors and Leaders
- Women Ministry A.M.A.D.A.
- Missions: Our Constant Challenge
The first sessions during the month of August focused on how the transformation has been affecting the church in terms of changing its forms, being forced to leave church buildings, and zealously seek to maintain the essence of the gospel in its sacraments, ministries and forms of communication and education. Also discussed: what the expectations are for the return to a new normal.
In the first session, more than 6,300 visits were recorded through Zoom and Facebook Live.
During the month of September, the speakers will be emerging leaders from prominent churches in the region. They will talk about how to shape the church in the near future and what the biblical, ministerial and personal leadership responses are for building effective and healthy ministries in these unprecedent times.
Participants will receive a “Ministerial Update” certificate awarded jointly by the Alliance World Fellowship (AWF), the Latin American Fellowship (CLA), and the Latin American Theological Faculty (FATELA).
