Reverend Stenly H. Christian is the new President of the Gujarat Synod. He would like to see young people growing in their faith in Christ, pastors and missionaries trained, and all members involved in the mission and evangelism work for the growth of the Alliance church in Gujarat.
The new president of Gujarat Synod has ambitious plans for the future. Rev. Stenly Christian wants the Gujarat Synod to plant a church in Nadiad city. In Agawada, a new church was recently planted, and there is further mission and evangelism work to be done in the surrounding villages. Christian also plans for the training of pastors and missionaries, the raising up of more young people to consider pastoral ministry, and seeing every member involved in mission and evangelism work.
Rev. Christian was born into a pastor’s family in 1979 and he has three sisters. His father, Rev. Henry T. Christian, has been a C&MA pastor for 52 years as well as President of the Gujarat Synod for several years. After completing high school, Rev. Stenly studied to be a mechanic and worked in a car repair shop. He was baptised in 1999 and decided to become a pastor in 2003, beginning his practical training in a village church in 2004. In the same year, he married Helina, and they have a seven-year-old son.
Rev. Christian served two years in the village before heading to Methodist Bible Seminary in 2006 to complete his B.Th. He then was appointed pastor of Carmel Alliance Church in Karoli Village. He received has ordination in 2017 and has served 12 different Alliance churches. He was elected Vice President in 2018 and President in August 2019 for a term of two years.
As President, Rev. Christian would like to renovate the Alliance Conference Center in Mahemdabad, two bungalows set aside for missionary accommodations, and a boarding school in Dholka. He would also like to pay sufficient wages to their pastoral staff.
Rev. Christian requests prayer for himself and his family, the executive committee of the Gujarat Synod, and for the pastors and growth of the Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Gujarat.
