With over 30 years of experience and a great passion for the Lord, Reverend Iván Flores hopes to help our Chilean family grow, strengthen the Alliance identity, plant new churches, and expand the missionary vision.
Pastor Iván Flores was born in Osorno, Chile, in September 1962. His parents, Carlos and Rosa, were pastors in the Christian and Missionary Alliance for 35 years. Iván has five other siblings, and he is married to Naara Mena Matamala, who is currently the National Secretary of the Alliance Women’s Union of Chile. Together they have two daughters: Naara Eunice, 32, who is married and has a daughter, Ivanna, and Daniela, who is 30 years old, single and lives in the Dominican Republic.
Rev. Iván graduated from the Theological Seminary of Temuco (Advanced Bachelor in Theology) in 1984. He has over 30 years of ministry and has served as a pastor in Chile, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. He has occupied many important positions, such as the Secretary of the Araucanía District in Chile, Secretary of the National Board in the Dominican C&MA, Director of the Bible Institute in Cuba, and others. Currently he is studying for his Master’s degree in Theology at thesis level. He has also written several books.
Iván Flores was elected National President by a secret ballot vote during the General Meeting January 14-17, 2020. His term of office will start March 1, 2020, and will last four years.
The Chilean church is “finishing our new administrative identity, from Corporation to Church. Our plans focus on missions, church planting, internal church growth and pastoral leadership. Our focus will be on strengthening our Alliance identity.”
Pastor Iván asks us to pray for strength and wisdom from the Lord. May the Lord guide us to live a life of holiness, he says, and be an example of Christian service to other churches to prepare for Christ’s return. Chile is facing many complicated social issues, so please pray that we may be light and salt in such difficult times.
