Reverend Chamroeun Ruom is the new President of the Alliance in Cambodia. He hopes to see the local churches united and grounded in Biblical teaching, as well as reaching out to neighboring countries to spread the Good News.
Born in June 1967, Rev. Chamroeun Ruom is the new president of the Cambodian Alliance. He was brought up in a Buddhist family with his brother and three sisters in Battambang, Cambodia. He completed his formal education at the state school in his area and has been married to Dee Sakin since 1990. They have two sons, Vireak (25 years old) and Longdy (24 years old), and one daughter, Rachail (20 years old).
Rev. Ruom first came in contact with the Word of God in 1980, when he was in a refugee camp in Thailand. There, he found a copy of the Gospel and came to enjoy reading it. God’s grace saved him in 1995 after he returned to Cambodia. After that, the pastor began learning more about our Lord and Savior and graduated from the TEE Bible School in 2001.
He served for 15 years as a senior pastor at the Nisey Thmey Alliance Church, and he has also served as the President of the TEE for seven years. Rev. Ruom was elected the new president of the KEC (Khmer Evangelical Church) in April 2019 and will be leading the church for the next four years.
As president, Rev. Ruom wants to work towards the growth and unity of the local churches. He expects to see many leaders ordained and grounded in Biblical teaching. And he hopes to send Cambodian missionaries to neighboring countries to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Ruom asks that we pray for his and his family’s well-being, health, physical and spiritual needs, and for God to continue showering the national churches with His light and blessings.
