The new president of the C&MA church of Gabon, Rev. André Binet, has a vision for the national church: “A Visible, Conquering, Humble Church Serves for Real Results.” As president, Rev. Binet wants to strengthen and develop the Alliance in all areas.
Rev. André Philibert Binet was born in June of 1966 in the province of Ogooué Maritime, department of Etimboué, Gabon. His parents were practicing Catholics and he and his siblings were brought up in a religious home. Rev. Binet has been married to Juliette since 1993 and they have three children: Rolia, 31 years old, Eliel André, 21 and Eliphaz Juliandre, 15.
Rev. Binet accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in October of 1982, at the age of 15. He responded to an invitation from a young person to take part in a meeting at his school where they talked about God. The preaching of the gospel was different from what he listened to at the Catholic church he used to attend. He was serving a God he did not know, and on that day, he understood the need to give his life to Jesus.
Rev. Binet attended the Bethel Bible Institute in Libreville and continued his education by doing online diploma courses. His pastoral ministry at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Gabon began in 1996 in Omboué, and since then he has worked throughout the country serving for 12 years in the synod regions, teaching in the Bible school and evangelism.
Elected president in July 2021 for a four-year term, Rev. Binet has a vision for the national church: “A Visible, Conquering, Humble Church Serves for Real Results.” A visible church that will change its way of communicating with the outside by setting up a radio and television station. A church that will strengthen the gospel’s presence, revitalizing the mission and reaching out to the villages closed to the gospel. A church that serves the communities, providing higher education. In partnership with a sister church, they have just opened the first Christian school of agronomy and engineering.
Rev. Binet asks us to pray for wisdom to lead God’s people in fulfilling the vision. He also asks us to pray for his family so that they remain faithful to the Lord.
