The African Youth Union of the Alliance gathered in August for their Biennial Congress. The event brought together more than 1,300 young people, who shared and learned about the foundations of our faith and what God wants His righteous people to do. May God continue to bless this movement, its leaders and participants.

The Youth Union of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, DRC, and of the Republic of Congo, held its 14th Biennial Congress August 12-19, 2019, in the Akanda district of Libreville, Gabon. More than 1,300 people attended, marking the 28th year of this movement which started in August 1991.

The Rev. Jean Paul Bouessi of Gabon developed the central theme from Psalm 11:3: “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Rev. Armand Serge Yao of Ivory Coast talked about “Keeping the Foundations to Influence the World”, focusing on the foundations of the C&MA according to A.B. Simpson’s preaching. Another speaker, Rev. Daouda Zonou of Mali developed the theme “My Righteous will Live by Faith,” using Hebrews 10:38 as the text. Finally, Rev. Samuel Kondano of Guinea talked about “God’s Plan for Marriage.”

Meditation sessions enriched the lives of young people. They organized an evangelistic outing on Friday afternoon, and many were touched by our Lord Jesus and converted. Many said the youth were nurtured by the Word of God, creating a stronger relationship with each other and with Him. There was also praise and worship, and biblical discussions.

The event was organized by the Youth of Gabon, supported by the president of the Board of Directors and members of the Executive Board. The next congress, which will celebrate the movement’s 30th anniversary, will be held in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.

Please pray for the completion of the construction of the headquarters in time for the next event. Also, pray for the continuity and vigor of this movement.
