A Call to Stand with Our Alliance Family in Beirut

August 5, 2020

Several members of the Alliance Churches located in Beirut, Lebanon, were injured and their homes damaged by the explosion in the port of Beirut that occurred yesterday. Please pray for our Alliance family there, and for the recovery of the people, the church, and the city of Beirut.

We all watched the news of the huge explosion in the port of Beirut that is around 5 kilometers away from the Karantina Alliance Church and the Alliance Bible School (CAIT – Christian Alliance Institute of Theology).

The incident left the whole city devastated and heavily damaged. The images and the videos of the explosion are overwhelming. Some of the people from the church got injured and were taken to hospital. The classrooms, offices and student dorms of the Bible School were badly damaged. “It was like a powerful earthquake, or a nuclear bomb”, said one local pastor.

Thank God that there were no deaths in the church or Bible School but the damage of the church, the Bible School buildings, student dorms, and the offices is huge and comprehensive.

Our brothers and sisters in Beirut are in desperate need for our prayers. Let us stand with them in this difficult time:

  • Pray for quick healing for those who are injured. Pray for the people who have first-hand experienced and saw this happening. Pray for their spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
  • Pray for the faculty, the students, and the staff of the school. Pray for wisdom, courage, and vision.
  • Pray for Rev. Sami Dagher, founder and minister of the church. Pray for his health and encouragement.
  • Pray for the whole country as they face too many challenges these days beside this explosion.
