The Christian and Missionary Alliance began its work in Japan in 1889, when three Alliance missionaries came to Japan. The Japan Alliance Church was born under the initiative of missionaries in 1914, and the Japan Alliance Bible School was established in Hiroshima in 1923.

The Japanese C&MA church became independent of the Alliance Mission in 1931 and it was renamed to Japan Alliance Christ Church. The United Church of Christ in Japan was established by the compulsion of the Japanese Government in 1941, and the Japan Alliance Christ Church joined it.

After the Second World War, withdrawing from the United Church of Christ in Japan, the Japan Alliance Christ Church was registered as a religious corporation in 1949. The Japan Alliance Church (JAC) was formed again and rebuilt in 1951.

The JAC has sent three missionaries to Brazil since 1959, who have contributed to the establishment of the Alliance Church of Brazil. The 50th Anniversary Memorial Church rebuilding was held in Hiroshima in 2000 and was a great blessing.
