Training Leaders in Latin America

December 8, 2017

This year marks the 20 th anniversary of FATELA Theological Seminary, a seminary with 11 campuses in 7 Latin American countries and an online program that has equipped Latinos living in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. FATELA offers classes, professional certificates and Master’s programs in Spanish to leaders throughout Latin America and the world. This year FATELA celebrates the hundreds of students impacted by their ministry and the many that have gone on to or have continued to serve as pastors, church leaders, presidents of their denominations, directors of non-profit organizations, missionaries in the Middle East, Japan, Eastern Europe and the US and even as the Secretary General of COMIBAM.

On this anniversary, FATELA also celebrates exciting new developments. This year FATELA received “university” status by the state of Florida and has begun its process of accreditation. FATELA also signed its fourth partnership this year opening doors for FATELA students to go on to get their DMin at the Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS) in New York. FATELA also has partnerships for continuing education with New York Theological Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Theological Semnary (Kansas), and South African Theological Seminary.

FATELA seeks to further its mission through service. One of the ways they have done that this year FATELA has been through working with Tim Wendel, the US Alliance missions director for
Latin America, to support the growth and development of the Cuban church. FATELA’s role has been helping in the development of curriculum for the Bible Institute there to pave the way for the
creation of certificate and Master’s programs.

“20 years for us may seem like a long time, but for God 20 years is only a tiny part of what he has planned for FATELA and His Church in Latin America. We continue in expectation of what God will continue to do through us” – President of FATELA Dr. Miguel Angel Palomino FATELA, as an Alliance University and Seminary in Latin America, is supported and promoted by Alliance World Fellowship and the US C&MA. Its leadership forms part of AWF’s International Committee on Theological Education and through this partnership, we advance together one of AWF’s strategic goals to facilitate pastoral training programs throughout the world.
